How Salty and Clever handles information submitted through forms, newsletters, comments, editorial tools, and other approved site features.

This Privacy Policy explains how Salty & Clever, published by Northern Lantern House LLC, handles information on saltnotes.blog and in Salty & Clever tools that explicitly link to this policy. Separately hosted applications may provide their own privacy notice; where they do, that notice controls for information entered there.

1. Information you choose to provide

You may provide a name, email address, message, correction or accessibility report, subscription preference, account or order information, survey response, or inputs requested by a kitchen, hosting, menu, restaurant, or planning tool.

Do not submit passwords, full payment-card numbers, government identifiers, diagnoses, prescriptions, private medical records, detailed health histories, or other sensitive information a feature does not need. Dietary preferences and ordinary menu constraints should not be treated as a secure medical record.

2. Information collected automatically

Hosting, security, consent, analytics, advertising, commerce, email, and delivery services may receive technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages requested, timestamps, consent choices, error data, and security events.

3. Cookies, consent, analytics, advertising, and local storage

Strictly necessary technologies may be used for security, consent choices, sessions, account access, carts, checkout, and requested features. Optional analytics and advertising technologies are controlled through the site’s consent system where required. Salty & Clever may use Google services, including Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor’s prior visits to this site or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Other enabled advertising vendors or networks may also use cookies and process identifiers or activity under their own privacy notices.

WooCommerce, payment providers, MailPoet, security services, and other enabled services may set or read cookies when their functions are used. Some calculators and planning tools may keep working inputs in your browser rather than transmit them to a server. A feature that saves or syncs information beyond the current session should explain that behavior.

You can change optional choices using Cookie Settings. Google advertising preferences can also be managed through Google My Ad Center, including controls for personalized advertising, or through browser controls. The live register below is generated by the site’s consent software.

4. Contact, email, and subscriptions

Information provided through contact or email subscription features is used to respond, deliver requested communications, maintain consent and suppression records, prevent abuse, and keep appropriate operational records. Marketing email includes an unsubscribe method.

5. Accounts, purchases, and payment

When you purchase a Salty & Clever product, Northern Lantern House LLC is the seller of record. Order records may include the product, price, date, delivery or entitlement status, billing information needed for the transaction, and the purchase email address. Payment is processed by the provider shown at checkout; Salty & Clever does not receive the full payment-card number.

6. Kitchen, hosting, restaurant, and menu tools

Tools are designed to use only information reasonably needed for the requested result. Do not enter private medical histories, diagnoses, prescriptions, or named guests’ health information into ordinary menu or restaurant tools. If a tool asks about allergens or dietary constraints, provide only what is necessary for the planning task and still verify food safety directly with the responsible cook, restaurant, caterer, manufacturer, or qualified professional.

Restaurant hours, menus, prices, reservation policies, ingredients, service formats, and availability can change. Reservations, loyalty, delivery, and ordering systems are governed by their own providers.

7. Advertising, affiliate links, sponsors, and external services

Salty & Clever may use display advertising, affiliate links, sponsorships, gifted access, owned products, embeds, or links to third-party services. Those services may process information under their own terms and privacy notices. Commercial relationships are disclosed where relevant to a recommendation.

8. How information is used

to provide requested pages, tools, products, communications, and support;
to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the site and applications;
to process purchases, delivery, entitlement, recovery, refunds, and accounting;
to measure audience and service performance when permitted;
to prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access;
to maintain consent, correction, suppression, security, and audit records; and
to comply with law and protect rights, safety, privacy, and service integrity.

9. Service providers and sharing

Information may be processed by providers that support hosting, content delivery, security, consent, analytics, advertising, email, forms, commerce, payment, backups, and application infrastructure. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, investigate abuse, protect rights or safety, or complete a legitimate business transfer with appropriate safeguards.

Salty & Clever does not sell personal information as a stand-alone data product. Advertising technology can still involve activity that some laws define as sharing or targeted advertising.

10. Retention and security

Information is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, security, backups, accounting, consent records, legal obligations, disputes, and purchase recovery. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no website, application, or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

11. Privacy choices and rights

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to withdraw consent for optional processing. California and other U.S. state laws may provide rights concerning certain sale, sharing, targeted-advertising, or profiling uses. EEA and UK residents may have additional data-protection rights and may complain to the appropriate supervisory authority.

Use the Salty & Clever contact page for a privacy request. We may need to verify identity before fulfilling it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right provided by applicable law.

12. Children

Salty & Clever is not designed to collect children’s personal information through public tools. Do not submit identifying or sensitive information about children through ordinary planning or editorial features unless a specific feature clearly requires it and appropriate consent and safeguards are in place.
