Salty & Clever
A host arranging a generous dinner-party table as guests gather in the background

Everything works
until one thing
runs out.

One oven, one cook, and however many people said yes. I write about the part that comes after the recipe — how much, how far ahead, what holds and what collapses — and I built three tools that do the counting. They count the racks, the burners, the cold space and your own two hands, and they name whichever one gives out first. When the night does not fit the kitchen, they say so instead of picking a number. That is the useful part.

The premise

The point is not to make dinner look effortless. It is to make the evening feel generous.

I care about the part that happens after the recipe: the full fridge, the one useful oven, the guest who arrives early, the drink that needs ice, the salad with a service window, and whether the person hosting gets to sit down. This site is built around those decisions.

What can I make?

Start with the ingredients in front of you. Salty will narrow the published recipes; Kitchen & Bar takes over when you want the whole fridge, freezer, pantry and equipment judged together.

Stay at the table
